Friedrich Merz

Friedrich Merz is a German lawyer and politician, known for his role in the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). Born on November 11, 1955, in Brilon, Germany, he has held various positions within the party, including serving as the parliamentary leader of the CDU/CSU group in the Bundestag from 2000 to 2002. After stepping back from active politics for several years, Merz returned to the forefront of the CDU, eventually becoming the party’s chairman in 2021.
